This boy and his grandfather fishing on Jarvis Creek were the epitome of contentment as I stumbled across them summer before last. The sun was warm and low and the marsh had that beautiful late summer glow. Actual fish caught were just a bonus  on this perfect afternoon.

The painting is called "Perfect Afternoon" and is 18 x 24 inches, oil on board. I painted this scene once before – but much a much smaller "study" which ended up going home with a customer in NY. But I always really loved the memory, so I painted this larger one – and entered it into this year's Artfields – a really neat Southeastern art festival and competition in Lake City, SC.
